Review: Essie Haute in the Heat Collection

Summer needs to hurry up and get here already. Luckily, and just in time for Throwback Thursday, this collection of last year’s summer colors recently became available at my local Lot-Less (like the Big Lots of NYC). I found four colors from the Essie Summer 2014 Haute in the Heat collection for $2.99/ea and then one more color on 6pm.com for $4.99. Only missing a chocolate brown creme called Fierce, No Fear. Get comfy because this is a pic-heavy, super-informative post! Do you have your popcorn? Let’s go!

Essie Urban Jungle is a gorgeous off-white with pink undertones. The pink separates it from my other gray-based and putty-colored off-whites. It complements my skin so nicely! The first layer is patchy and will need covering, but it will define your cuticle line so apply with care! A second and third coat smooth things out nicely.

Essie Roarrrrange is a rich and vibrant orange creme with four repeating R’s in the name. Kinda squishy on the first coat. Opaque in two coats. Shown here in a crescent mani over the off-white Essie Urban Jungle.

Essie Strut Your Stuff is a bright medium-blue packed with pigment. Goes on glossy in a couple coats. No staining! Shown here in what I will call a triple dip mani. I’m inventing over here!

Essie Haute in the Heat is the namesake of the collection and a lovely bright raspberry. You will see a handful of warm berry reds from this brand (I can think of  three off-hand: Plumberry, Watermelon, Style Hunter), but this way you can find the one that suits your skin tone best!

Essie Ruffles and Feathers completes the design. I’ve already shown you what this looks like alone. Calling this a Concentric Circles mani unless you can think of a better name! It is a lovely teal green that is opaque in two coats with shine to spare!
