Dupe Test: Blue Moon vs. Monologue

Over the weekend I did a dupe test of Wet ‘n Wild Blue Moon vs. Rescue Beauty Lounge Monologue

Blue Moon is from Wet ‘n Wild’s Wild Shine line. This past weekend Rite Aid had a sale where all $0.99 products were $0.69! I scooped up Blue Moon since I am into dark colors this fall, but when I got it into the light and saw the vibrant blue-green shimmer I wondered if it might be a dupe for the fancy bottle of RBL Monologue I got from Editorial Director of The Cut Stella Bugbee.

As you can see the two look similar on the nail but different in the bottle. Just looking at the bottles Blue Moon seems to promise tons more shimmer, but it doesn’t really carry over to the nail. Both formulas apply smoothly and don’t stain. No word on chip wear since I am only swatching for a color comparison.

Alas, there are two distinct differences.
Blue Moon has a navy base and more light green shimmer. Monologue has a teal blue base and more light blue shimmer. The end result is that Blue Moon appears darker indoors.

Verdict: NOT DUPES!
But do I need both? Not really considering both formulas apply smoothly and don’t stain. Pick one and love it with all your heart.
