I like to matte my nails to my outfit. This is “Savage” by Sinful Colors.
Savage is a dark turquoise creme with a matte finish. I always forget the difference between aqua, turquoise and teal blue but once you see them all together you know. It’s like the Baldwin brothers. The Sinful Colors bottle is round with a smooth plastic cap. The brush is mid-width and fans easily across the nail. The polish is easy to apply but you should lay down a good base coat first or you will get some staining. It also stains the skin around the nail as you remove it. If you lay it on too thick you will get some cracking, so take your time.
I had no idea this would have such a striking, sturdy matte finish…it looks like any other creme in the bottle. But I love the color, and as with any textured polish, I get the illusion that my nails are more protected as I wear it. Dry time is remarkably quick. I’m a fan. I don’t know when this color rolled out or if it was part of a collection, but the earliest blog posts I see about it are from fall 2011. Check out this swatch review by one of my favorite blogs Nouveau Cheap. She has trouble deciding what is teal and turquoise too! Hashtag-kindred-spirits.
This About Sums It Up: The color is fun, and the finish is unique. I have a matte top coat I throw over colors when I want to change things up, but this polish was BORN THIS WAY so I appreciate it all the more. Plus it saves me that extra step. I haven’t seen nail art this instant since I had red, plastic toy fingernails as a kid. They looked especially artificial since they only came in fair skin, but when you play pretend your imagination glosses over those minor details.
